Dark Gossamer – Cake #1521 What on earth is Halloween without a party?! Everyone at Pastry Palace is here year-round (really – 365 days – bet you didn’t know that!) making fabulous confections for brides, birthdays and beautiful events, we must confess that we get to have the most fun in our kitchen crafting weird, wacky and wonderful designs for our customers who seem to possess imagination galore. () Some folks like to start out slow, with just a hint of the holiday in your presentation. Simple and elegant (just like real spider webs) – the use of just a few basic Halloween motifs will provide an understated cake design (but it definitely leans to the
Maybe it's the town. Las Vegas is sort of famous for its glitz and glamour, after all. There's really nothing else quite like a Vegas showgirl sporting bling and feathers. Of course, all that glitters and shines does have a tendency to evolve over time. It's kind of like comparing a Folies Bergère revue with one of today's Cirque du Soleil casts. The concept may be similar, but the execution continues to evolve. Taking a cue from our flashy environment (even if we are in the desert!) - we bake tiered masterpieces for weddings, birthdays, and all sorts of special life events, featuring just a small touch of shine - or when called for, enough sparkly
Flowers on a cake. Sounds sort of classic, doesn't it? (or did I mean boring?) As cake designs go, we all know that for generations it was mostly an assortment of icing roses in shades tinted to match the event. That was then. When it comes to "cakes with flowers" these days, it's a whole new story. For example,
If you're in the wedding business, you've just got to love David Tutera. Not only does he create fantastic wedding environments for the couples chosen to be on his show - but he finds ways to express their dreams in real life - often in ways they never even imagined possible. Let's face it - a wedding is not simply a time for a joyous union to take place, it's also a very personal expression of the bride and groom's personal passions - whether it be a Disneyland, Halloween, or a luxury car theme.(Oh - you've seen it, don't lie!) In fact, in our experience, there are virtually no limits to the possibilities that couples present
(Seriously? How impossibly cool is the "Rapunzel, Rapenzel" cake shown above? One of our personal favs.) What two things go more perfectly together than "Kids and Birthday Cakes"? Not only do parents take special care to make sure every birthday is celebrated with cake, we also have to make sure that it's just the right cake, too! The right cake to match the party theme, the decorations, the birthday girl or boy's favorite colors, characters and activities - heck, we even start before they're born with "the perfect baby shower cake" (but that's another blog post). And there's nothing that says our kids have to suffer through with just the homemade cupcakes or the quickly-baked Duncan Hines
