"Star Wars - A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away"…the opening line of Episode IV of the most spectacularly successful science fiction movie franchise ever. Who can forget those words disappearing into space, as the narrative crawls up the screen. The black of space is lit by millions of stars, represented here by tiny shining white beads, and nothing else is visible, until the gigantic space ship begins to fly up the screen. Star Wars fans are true "fanatics" - they memorize the dialog to entire episodes, dress in costume and makeup of their favorite characters, and heaven have mercy on an outsider if he/she suggests that Star Trek is better than Star Wars!! One of the most famous and recognized lines from the movie is "May the force be with you", referring to the "force", which binds all of us in spirit and love. It's become commonplace for people to say "May the fourth be with you" every year on May 4^th. This birthday greeting is a logical extension of that play on words. This piece may seem simple and stark, but believe me when I say that to a loyal fan, this will be the best birthday cake EVER!!
