1534-Touch of Midas

This majestic piece was designed for royalty - or for that special someone YOU consider to have all the characteristics of someone descended from a royal house. We all know that there are many "unseemly" qualities belonging to some off the more nefarious royals, but we choose to concentrate on the more worthy ones, here: integrity, graciousness, kindness, and intelligence. This three-tiered work denotes style and elegance, worthy of such a one. The chic contrast of white and black is embellished with a diamond-quilted motif, accented with contrasting beads. The hundred-dollar bills casually arranged refer to great wealth, whether it is fact or fantasy. The golden crown resting atop the cake is decorated with large amber stones. Amber has a rich tradition and history. The oldest amber recovered dates to the Upper Carboniferous period (320 million years ago). It is fossilized tree resin (not sap), which has been prized for its color and natural beauty since Neolithic times. Much valued from antiquity to the present as a gemstone, amber is made into a variety of decorative objects, such as the one seen here. "Touch of Midas" is certain to make any honoree feel like royalty, indeed.
