1483 – Touchdown!
Baseball might be "America's pastime", but the first game of American football was played on November 6, 1869 between two college teams, Rutgers and Princeton, under rules resembling rugby and soccer. A set of rule changes drawn up from 1880 onward by Walter Camp, the "Father of American Football", established the snap, eleven-player teams and the concept of downs, and later rule changes legalized the forward pass, created the neutral zone and specified the size and shape of the football. This simple design, a single rectangular tier, in "grass" green, simulates a football field, complete with yard markers, and gold goal posts. In this case, all is prepared for George's 80th birthday, and George is obviously a die-hard football fan. Who isn't??!!? Who can resist getting riled up when your team is losing, or cheering loudly when your team is winning? Well, whoever wins the game, "Touchdown!" will certainly put one in the "W" column for the person responsible for it!
