1274 – Alice’s Teapot
This design looks like it might be right out of "Alice in Wonderland", the beloved work by Lewis Carroll, written in 1865. The two colorful tiers (or three, taking into consideration the teapot) comprise what might be one of the Mad Hatter's unique creations. The prominence of the red hearts on top of the black diamonds decorating the lower tier call to mind the erratic Queen of Hearts; and the teapot could be the very one from which tea was poured at the infamous tea party hosted by the March Hare, the Mad Hatter, and the Dormouse. So, of course, this work is suitable for both a "birthday" or an "un-birthday" celebration! And while we're on the subject, why IS a raven like a writing desk??
