Since making his debut on Nickelodeon in May of 1999, "SpongeBob" Squarepants has been a success on an enormous scale. It currently Nickelodeon's longest-running cartoon, and SpongeBob is one of the most popular characters in children's television. Living in his underwater hometown of Bikini Bottom (also known as Downtown), SpongeBob pals around with his friends, enjoying is life, just like anyone else. Today, he's perched on top of a two-tiered birthday cake, all decked out in variegated shades of blue, and full of the common flora and fauna of the ocean. Replete with bubbles racing to the surface, SpongeBob is ready to celebrate the occasion!
