1681 – Spider-Man in the City

Spider-Man first debuted in 1962, in Marvel Comics. He was an oddity in the community of superheros; unlike previous teen heroes such as Bucky and Robin, Spider-Man did not benefit from being the protege of any adult superhero mentors like Captain America and Batman. He had to learn on his own - and learn, he did. The character gained enormous popularity among other teen-agers, and has since gone on to grow to adulthood, and become one of most successful movie franchises of the last decade. This work is an homage to Spider-Man - aka Peter Parker. The bottom tier is a faithful rendering of his superhero costume; the upper tier is a silhouette of the city, against a golden sunrise. Spider-Man is always ready to heed the call - after all, "with great power there must also come great responsibility." Today that responsibility takes the form of wishing Kason a very happy birthday, and he will no doubt take that responsibility as seriously as any other.
