1900 – Chanel in Pink

The House of Chanel has been a standard in fashion since 1909 when Gabrielle (aka "Coco", a nickname from her days as a chanteuse) Chanel opened a millinery shop at 160 Boulevard Malesherbes, the ground floor of her Parisian flat. This work in pink and white is the epitome of charm and grace, and just exactly the right thing for a baby shower or "Welcome Home, Baby" event, introducing a little girl into the world. The base tier is a delightful shade of pink, in a quilted motif; each point of each diamond is marked off by a shiny silver bead. The instantly-recognized double "C" logo for Chanel is prominently displayed on the side of the base tier, and strand of tiny pearls is strewn against the pink layer, adding an unmistakable touch of glamour. The base of each tier is finished off in a narrow black satin ribbon. The upper tier in sparkling white is banded by a broad ribbon of pink that culminates in a large stunning bow, and the most adorable pair of baby shoes you ever saw, crowns this piece. Welcome home, Annabella!
