1510-Masquerade In Blue

This charming work has a "Mardi Gras" flavor. The lower of the two tiers is iced in a stunning royal blue, then ornately decorated with hand drawn artwork in gold. Gold beading creates a scalloped edge along the top of the tier, and the base is edges with a twisted braid executed in several shades of gold. Another braid of twisted gold edges the top tier of the piece, which is done up in a lighter shade of blue, and also decked out in hand-drawn flourishes in gold. The paler blue mask is adorned with multiple peacock plumes, which are a symbol of pride, and by extension, nobility and glory. Peacocks are also known to eat poisonous plants with no ill effects, making their feathers a symbol of incorruptibility and immortality. Masks are widely utilized at Mardi Gras celebrations, and at any other "Masquerade" affair. "Masquerade in Blue" will add a festive air to any event.
